Sinkhole House Hillsborough

Sinkhole house, Hillsborough County, FL. Are there unrepaired Sinkhole houses in Hillsborough County, Florida? Hillsborough County ranks among the highest in Florida for sinkholes.  Sinkholes are more prevalent in Florida because the state sits on limestone. Weather conditions such as rain and drought can erode and dissolve limestone, leading to areas of weakness and creating sinkholes.

Sinkholes that form under homes can cause structural problems and must be addressed by strengthening and repairing the foundation through underpinning.  If your neighbors are experiencing sinkholes, then you should have your property assessed by a contractor. Your homeowner’s insurance policy will give you a free damage assessment.  Repairs can be overwhelming and costly if you live in a sinkhole-prone area. I buy sinkhole homes and can save you the cost of repairs and the time repairs can entail.

Sinkhole Signs

Several signs could indicate a sinkhole is developed or developing on your property.  Cracks in your ceiling, walls, and flooring, cracks or buckling cement in cement slabs or cement flooring, cracks in outside steps, and areas that are depressed or sunken are all signs that the property is experiencing a sinkhole.  Houses falling into huge sinkholes are very rare. The instances of this are very few and far between. Most homes can be secured and repaired through underpinning and or compaction grouting. The home insurance policy will cover costs associated with sinkholes; however, you may need a lawyer to help you fight for the repairs as insurance companies often opt to pay the maximum insurance on the home rather than face the cost of repairs.

Sinkhole Repair Process

Your home will need to be vacated during the repair process. Underpinning sometimes requires installing flooring under the load-bearing walls and drilling pins to secure the home’s foundation. The foundation must be secured, as the shifting and settling of the soil can cause it to shift and move. Often, when a home is experiencing sinkholes, the floors can feel shifting and moving as people walk on them. The repairs to the ceilings, walls, and floors and any other damage incurred by the sinkholes must also be addressed.

Your insurance company will contact a professional engineering company and can give you a proper assessment of the damage and the possible cost of repairs.  The insurance company will deny your claim if the engineering company finds no evidence of a sinkhole. Contacting a lawyer may be necessary if you are experiencing evidence of sinkholes with signs of cracking and sinking.  A lawyer will review the tests thoroughly and are often able to find evidence in the tests of sinkhole activity.

Sinkhole Repair

Underpinning and grouting are considered the best actions when repairing sinkhole homes. If you are not interested in going through this process, I purchase sinkhole homes. Selling your home is a great option when faced with the expense of repairs and the time-consuming process, including needing to vacate the house during the repairs.
